"The time will come". A well-known fellow countryman of Sofia Rotaru suggested why she is silent about the war and refused to appear in a movie about Yaremchuk

Singer and composer Pavlo Dvorskyi has suggested why his countrywoman Sofia Rotaru is silent about the war in Ukraine, limiting herself to sparse posts on social media. Dvorskyi and Rotaru are from the Chernivtsi region and have known each other since 1966.

In an interview with OBOZ.UA, the musician also suggested why Rotaru and another legendary singer, Vasyl Zinkevych, refused to appear in a documentary dedicated to their outstanding friend and colleague, Nazarii Yaremchuk. The movie about the artist is currently being shown in cinemas.

Pavlo Dvorskyi, commenting on the release of the documentary Yaremchuk: An Incomparable World of Beauty," suggested why Sofia Rotaru and Vasyl Zinkevych refused to participate in the film: "Sofia Rotaru and Vasyl Zinkevych are wonderful performers and have done a lot for Ukrainian song. We should ask them personally about the reasons for their refusal. But I think there will be more films about Yaremchuk, in which both Rotaru and Zinkevych will take part."

The musician also admitted what he thinks about the fact that Sofia Rotaru is not as active as other Ukrainian artists in publicly opposing the war in Ukraine: "Perhaps the reason is something personal or something related to creativity. I think the time will come and she will tell us everything herself."

Pavlo Dvorskyi says he has already seen the movie "Yaremchuk: The Incomparable World of Beauty": "I feel like I've returned to the years when Nazarii and I were together – on tour, in life, on vacation. When we wrote new songs, rejoiced together in our successes, experienced failures, saw our friends off on their last journey... This film is very important for young hearts who may not know much about Nazarii. But now they will see how difficult it was to keep the Ukrainian song alive at that time when others gave up and started creating in a foreign language. And we had wonderful songs! Volodymyr Ivasyuk, Levko Dutkovskyi, Oleksandr Zlotnyk, Mykhailo Tkach, Mykola Bakai – many outstanding artists."
