At the 97th Academy Awards, actor and comedian Adam Sandler appeared in his signature style of a sweatshirt and athletic shorts, causing a flurry of comments online. The actor's image was immediately compared to the style of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who, during the war, prefers utilitarian clothing even during official meetings. It was in this image that he appeared a few days before the Oscars 2025 at the White House.

Internet users jokingly called Sandler's choice "Zelenskyy's move," recalling the Ukrainian leader's recent visit to the White House, Mathrubhumi reports. It was there that a journalist asked Zelenskyy why he did not wear a suit, to which he replied: "I will wear a suit after this war is over."
