First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska has refused the White House's offer to attend US President Joseph Biden's address to Congress. Rumors spread in foreign media that the reason was the intention to seat her next to the widow of Russian so-called opposition leader Alexei Navalny, Yulia Navalnaya, but this is not the case.

OBOZ.UA has learned from its sources that the First Lady of Ukraine had other events planned for that day. We were informed about this by the Washington Post, which published a news story about the desire to seat a Ukrainian and a Russian woman next to each other.

The article says that US First Lady Jill Biden was supposed to sit next to Olena Zelenska and Yulia Navalnaya to create "a powerful backdrop for President Biden's speech to a joint session of Congress." The two guests were supposed to be symbols of resistance to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

However, this theory, as we were told, has nothing to do with reality. The Ukrainian first lady has a number of meetings scheduled for March 7.

"The Embassy of Ukraine in the United States has indeed recently received an invitation for the First Lady of Ukraine to attend the State of the Union address on March 7. However, due to scheduled events, including a visit to Kyiv by children from an orphanage, which was planned in advance, unfortunately, the first lady will not be able to attend," the newspaper received.

The article also says that Yulia Navalnaya herself refused to participate due to "fatigue".
