In a new music video, Twenty One Pilots drummer John Dun appeared in a bandana with the inscription Torchbearer in Ukrainian: what connects him to our country

Twenty One Pilots drummer supports Ukraine

Twenty One Pilots drummer Josh Dun appeared in the new video for the song "Overcompensate" with a bandana around his neck with the inscription Torchbearer in Ukrainian. In 14 hours, the video has garnered almost two million views and over 25 thousand comments.

As you might guess, many of them were written by Ukrainians: they expressed gratitude. The YouTube video has already went viral in many countries. What's funny is that Russians are also fans of it.

They even assumed that the inscription was embroidered in Russian, missing the letter "ь" (Факелоносець in Ukrainian, Факелоносец in Russian) at the end of the word. However, Ukrainians quickly put the Russians, who are once again looking for support where there is none, in their place.

It should be clarified that Josh Dun could have quite consciously chosen an accessory with such an inscription and even knew the meaning of this word because the drummer once lived and studied in Ukraine.

In 2018, the group released a video for the song Nico And The Niners filmed at Taras Shevchenko University. While filming the backstage events, the drummer said that he had studied in Ukraine, even though he did not understand the Ukrainian language.

Twenty One Pilots has also repeatedly supported Ukrainians and performed in the capital.

In 2022, the band canceled a concert in Moscow, publicly stating that they supported Ukraine in the war.
