"I'm afraid the worst has happened." Jim Kerry and Catherine Winnick laugh at Russia's travel ban
On November 14, the Russian Foreign Ministry released a list of 100 Canadian citizens who were banned from entering Russia for supporting Ukraine. Comedian Jim Carrey and Ukrainian-born Vikings star Katherine Winnick, who were also on the "blacklist," reacted to the news.
The celebrities ridiculed Russia's sanctions against them. Jim Carrey, for example, sarcastically wrote on Twitter that "the worst has happened."
The star of the films The Mask, Ace Ventura, Bruce Almighty and others responded to a tweet by Canadian writer Margaret Atwood, who has also become persona non grata in the aggressor country.
Atwood wrote ironically: "Jim and I had planned to have fun this weekend in Moscow. I think we should go to Kyiv instead."
The actor replied to his friend in the same joking manner: "I'm afraid the worst has happened. We've been banned from entering Russia... but the problems of 100 Canadians in this crazy world are so trivial! We always have Paris."
Katherine Winnick, on the other hand, did not hide her pride at being on the "honorary" list. She posted on her Instagram a screenshot of the news about Russian sanctions against Canadian citizens, including herself and Jim Kerry, and captioned it: "A badge of honor."
In the comments, people began to congratulate the actress on this: "Congratulations! It means you are doing everything right", "They watched Vikings and were scared of you", "Finally! Kremlin, why did it take so long?", "Good company", "Why does Russia think that any sane person with a conscience and compassion would want to go there? Glory to Ukraine!"
As OBOZREVATEL wrote, back in February of this year, Jim Carrey expressed his support for the Ukrainian people, assuring that he was heartbroken by what was happening in Ukraine. In his address, the actor called dictator Putin a moron.
