BBC released the top 100 women of 2023: Oksana Zabuzhko and two other Ukrainians are on the list

The BBC has published a list of the world's top 100 women of 2023. The list includes activists, experts in various fields, influencers, athletes, media people, etc. who inspire and contribute to the future.

The list includes former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama, owner of the HUDA Beauty cosmetics brand Huda Kattan, soccer player and Ballon d'Or winner Aitana Bonmati, 93-year-old model and influencer Licia Fertz, and others. Ukrainian women are also in the top 100: writer Oksana Zabuzhko, children's rights advocate Olena Rozvadovska and climate policy advisor Iryna Stavchuk made it to the list.

This year's theme of the list was directly related to climate change. The BBC analyzed media from around the world to find those whose stories have become an inspiration to others or whose actions have had an impact on society. See the full list of the BBC 100 Women project here.

Writer Oksana Zabuzhko

Oksana Zabuzhko is the author of more than 20 works of literature, including fiction, poetry, and journalism.

Her work has been translated into twenty languages. She has received national and international awards, including the Angelus Literary Prize of Central Europe, the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine, and the French Legion of Honor. She is currently one of the most famous writers and intellectuals in the country.

Children's rights advocate Olena Rozvadovska

Olena Rozvadovska, founder of the Voices of Children charity foundation, believes that her mission is to help Ukrainian children overcome the trauma caused by the war.

The foundation provides psychological support to children affected by the hostilities, protects their rights, helps with evacuation, etc. The organization has already helped tens of thousands of children and parents.

Climate Policy Advisor Iryna Stavchuk

Iryna Stavchuk is currently working with the independent philanthropic movement European Climate Foundation, where she is responsible for Ukrainian programs to develop environmentally friendly and climate-resilient solutions for the country's post-war recovery.

She was Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine for three years until 2022. Iryna Stavchuk was in charge of the government's climate change policy, responsible for European integration and biodiversity conservation.
