An interview with Andrii Danylko from 1996 on UT-1 has surfaced online: there is a stir in the studio, everyone speaks Ukrainian
Ukrainian users have found an archival recording of a 1996 TV interview with Andrii Danylko, known as Verka Serduchka. In those days, the artist was joking and answering questions from fans on the UT-1 channel.
What immediately caught the viewers' eye was the Ukrainian language from the lips of an artist who was already used to speaking Russian. The video was posted on a TikTok account with old Ukrainian videos.
In 1996, the show was still non-color, but you can still feel the warm atmosphere in the studio through the screen.
Andrii Danylko used to joke and address his guests on a first-name basis, just as they addressed him. Laughter was heard all the time on the air and you could feel the excitement around the conversation, as the audience boldly asked questions to each other.
Sometimes the artist would jokingly say that he was "bugged" but continued to answer sincerely. Almost 30 years ago, when Andrii Danylko was only 23 years old, his Serduchka image had already become a favorite of the audience.
The humorous questions mostly concerned his career, studies, and attitude to the singer's image.
It is noteworthy that the singer spoke Ukrainian. It is noticeable how easy it is for the star to answer in the state language, although over the years he has begun to speak Russian.
"96! At the beginning of Ukraine's independence, everyone speaks the language! And what happened next?" "Pay attention to how well everyone speaks Ukrainian, including Danylko," "How he speaks. And then he couldn't string two words together on the X-Factor," "1996, everyone speaks Ukrainian! I'm shocked. It's fantastic," they wrote in the comments
