Ada Rogovtseva touched with a photo of her son who died of cancer at 49

Ada Rogovtseva touched with a photo with her deceased son

Famous Ukrainian actress Ada Rogovtseva showed a rare archive footage of her only son, who died on July 1, 2012, after an unsuccessful battle with cancer. Kostyantyn Stepankov was only 49 years old, and on February 11, 2024, he could have celebrated his 62nd birthday.

It was on his son's birthday that the legend of Ukrainian theater and cinema shared their joint archival photo with his fans. Ada Mykolayivna posted the black-and-white photo on her personal Instagram page.

The actress decided not to write long lines about her loss, which, as the star herself admitted, she has not yet fully experienced. Instead, the artist left one short word: "Son".

In the photo, Rogovtseva and her heir, who is no longer alive, are walking down the street.

The post was followed by sympathetic touching comments from both the actress's fans and her family, who knew the deceased personally: "RIP Kostya, may he rest in peace with God," "Hugs to the family. Unspeakable sadness all these years without him. I still cannot understand and accept his passing. Kostyk comes in a dream", "Lord, comfort the heart of his mother", "Kingdom of heaven and a blessed memory".

As you know, the cause of Kostyantyn's death was cancer. The man had a wife and a daughter. He was a theater and film director, worked at the International Academy of Ecology, and also participated in the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident.

After her son's death, the People's Artist published a book of memoirs symbolically titled "Certificate of Life." She recalled how Kostyantyn used to tell her that she had a birth certificate, a death certificate, but no life certificate. So when Kostya passed away, the actress decided to rectify this situation.

"I am not in this world. After my son died, I was gone. I don't know how, but I found some strength in myself and wrote this book. Because now I don't go on stage, and when you play in the theater all your life, you get energy, love, and interest from you, the audience. Now I'm exhausted because I don't have this. But maybe I'll get my act together and continue to go on stage. Because I have a daughter who is my friend, a soldier who does not leave his mother's side, and I have three grandchildren. They are my blood, my nerves, my soul, my life. For their sake, I continue to live," Rogovtseva admitted during the presentation of her book.

As OBOZ.UA wrote earlier, Ada Rogovtseva recalled her trip to Avdiivka, Donetsk region, five years ago. Today, the city is under daily terrorist shelling and is one of the hottest spots on the frontline. The Russian occupiers are conducting assaults to surround the town.
