"Why are you killing our children in Donbas?": Pavlo Zibrov on how propaganda made his relatives from Russia completely delusional

Pavlo Zibrov shares what his relatives in Russia say about the war

Ukrainian singer Pavlo Zibrov, who has relatives from Russia on his father's side, told how Kremlin propaganda made them delusional and forced them to believe in "Nazis" and "Banderites." The process of "zombification" began in 2014. Then the artist noticed a "cold snap" in communication with relatives.

In 2022, no one from Russia personally called him. The artist spoke about this in an interview with Dmytro Hordon.

''Why are you killing our children in Donbas?'': Pavlo Zibrov on how propaganda made his relatives from Russia completely delusional

If before the occupation of Crimea and Donbas Russians kept in touch with Ukrainians, in 2014 they changed their minds about the whole nation. It only took a few false stories for them believe in "Nazis that are killing children."

"In 2014, it became somehow cool on the other side. A conversation would start, a brotherly, normal conversation, but after 2-3 minutes it would stop. 'Why are you shooting, killing our children in Donbas? What are you doing?' It turned into a war, even if it was a limited war, which was in 2014-15. I didn't want to call them," the singer admitted.

Irregular and short-lived conversations with Russian relatives were limited to questions about their health as they would somehow turn the conversation into accusations of "shelling Donbas" after a few minutes.

"2-3 minutes and there are no emotions. After the war, no one (called - ed.). There was one call from my brother. 'If you feel bad there, come, we will take you here in Voronezh. Nazis and Benderites have taken over everything there.' We laughed. There is such propaganda there. They live in terror," Pavlo Zibrov said.
