"We are not ophthalmologists": "Kvartal 95" ironically reacted to the hate over the map of Ukraine without Crimea
The "Kvartal 95" studio ironically responded to the wave of hate that followed the publication of the announcement of the New Year's edition of the "Evening Quarter." The video depicted an alternative map of the world without Russia, with the "Ocean of Dreams" appearing instead, but what attracted more attention among Ukrainians was the fact that the map did not include the temporarily occupied Crimea.
When netizens began to leave a large number of negative comments under the video, it was removed from the official Instagram page of "Kvartal 95." Instead, the show's creators published an updated announcement of the New Year's concert, noting that they simply had to change the contrast, as the original version had Crimea on the map, but it was "almost invisible."
"The betrayal is canceled. We have increased the contrast so that Crimea can be seen by all those who have sharply "deteriorated eyesight." We are not ophthalmologists, but there is a difference between "almost invisible" and "not visible," as well as between opinion leaders and betrayal seekers," the project representatives wrote on the social network.
The new version of the video has significantly changed the color of the image. Now the shade of the map is much darker compared to the light blue background. The map still does not show the aggressor country of Russia, but Ukrainian Crimea can be seen.
The 1+1 TV channel responded to the incident. They noted that in the original version of the video, the outlines of Crimea were unclear due to "the use of visual effects."
