American 82-year-old journalist, writer, and millionaire Mitzi Perdue, who sold her engagement ring with a rare emerald for $1.2 million in 2022 and donated almost the entire amount to Ukrainians, said she was ready to change her political views if the US Congress does not decide to allocate an aid package to Ukraine. The republican is sure that this issue is still up in the air because of the propaganda of Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Mitzi Perdue called the Russian ruler "stupid" and said that some Americans do not even question Russia's false narratives. In an interview with the Voice of America , the journalist assured that a negative decision by the Republican Party to help Ukraine could affect her life.

According to the American, it is "as difficult for her to change her allegiance to a political party as it is to change her religion." However, if Congress still does not approve the allocation of the aid Ukraine needs, she is ready to take a drastic step.

"I disagree with my party on this issue. Many people feel the same way. I'm thinking of changing that (favoring the Republicans - ed.) if the issue is not resolved. This is a turning point," Mitzi Perdue assured.

She said that she was amazed that in one of the southern states of America, residents "bought into Putin's propaganda about eternal war."

According to the journalist, the Republicans and their supporters have been told a lie that "corrupt officials and oligarchs will buy apartments in Dubai with American aid." In response, the writer debunked myths about the war and the president of Ukraine, as she had been to Kyiv three times during the two years of full-scale war.

"Zelenskyy is not closing churches. He is closing Russian spy organizations. I've been to at least 20 churches in Ukraine, and they are all full. Being there is an emotional and uplifting experience that strengthens and heals Ukrainians," added the heiress of the world-famous Sheraton hotel chain.

In addition, the American told what she thought in 2022 when she learned about the Russian full-scale invasion.

"We could not believe and comprehend that in the 21st century, there could be an invasion on the level of World War II. Could Putin be that stupid? No. But he was," Mitzi Purdue said.

As OBOZ.UA wrote, the American journalist first visited Ukraine when she was only 21 years old, so in 2022 she could not ignore the tragedy of Ukrainians. With gifts and warm words, Mitzi Purdue came to Kyiv region after the de-occupation of the region.
