35-year-old Sophie von der Leyen, the eldest daughter of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, married her beloved Juan Pablo Brotfeld. The ceremony took place in the historic St. Pancras Church in Burgdorf near Hanover.

The event was accompanied by high security measures, as the bride's mother is a prominent figure in the post of EU head of state. This was reported by the German newspaper Bild.

According to available information, the newly married couple communicates with each other exclusively in English. The couple lives in Berlin. The man took his wife's surname and became Juan Pablo von der Leyen.

According to correspondents, the celebration was full of family comfort. The German politician and her future son-in-law personally greeted the guests, while the police guarded the entrances to the church. In the pictures posted online, you can see the beautiful bride with her mother Ursula. For the ceremony, the heroine of the occasion chose a sophisticated style with a deep neckline, a slit on the leg and a three-meter train, which her sister Sophie helped to carry. The bride complemented her look with white pumps.

The bride's father, Heiko von der Leyen, drove Sophie to the church in a dark green Mercedes. Her sisters Johanna and Victoria were witnesses, as well as longtime friends. After the wedding, about 250 guests stood in line and greeted the newlyweds with cheers, rose petals and soap bubbles. Sophie and Juan Pablo returned to the family estate in a 300-year-old white carriage pulled by white horses.
