Olena Zelenska, maiden name Kiyashko, was born February 6, 1978 in Kryvyi Rih. There she graduated with honors from the construction faculty of the technical university with a specialty in architecture, and in 2003 she married Volodymyr Zelensky, a comedian with whom she studied at the same school. As we have already noticed above, Olena Kiyashko and Volodymyr Zelensky studied in the same school, but in parallel classes. Then they did not socialize, and got to know each other closely already being students. However, they received their higher education in different educational institutions. Olena studied architecture at the Kryvyi Rih Technical University, while the future president studied law at the Kryvyi Rih Economic Institute of the Kyiv National Economic University.

They got married in 2003, having dated for eight whole years before that. Later, in one of the interviews, Zelensky sincerely admitted that he was simply afraid of such a responsible step.

In 2004, Olena became a mom for the first time, giving birth to a baby girl, who was named Sasha. The youngest Kirillo appeared nine years later - in 2013.

Zelenska, along with her husband, has dabbled in comedy. She was a scriptwriter for the Kvartal 95 studio, where she wrote scripts both for Vecherniy and Women Kvartal and for successful movies that the company produced.

Zelenska led a rather non-public lifestyle: she rarely appeared on screens and did not often attend social events. However, everything changed in 2019, when her husband turned from a comedy actor and showman into the president of the country, and she became the first lady.
