"There in Bakhmut": the network was captivated by a Christmas carol in a modern way, which makes it impossible to hold back tears. Video
Ukrainian singer SKYLERR (real name: Valeria Kudryavets) presented a modernized carol "There in Bakhmut," the lyrics to which were written by Oleh Vitvitskyi from Ternopil in the first year of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The lyrics refer to the spirit of Christmas that rises over the Donetsk region, where shots are heard and trench candles are kept burning at night.
The artist sang the sensual composition with the legendary Hryhoriy Veriovka Choir. The video clip on YouTube touched Ukrainians with new meanings and symbols of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The arrangement of Witwicki's work was written by composer Yaroslav Karpiv.
Text of the carol:
There in Bakhmut,
Where arrows are heard,
Where so many flowers,
There are so many dead...
Suddenly it became quiet
And then it sounded:
Christ is born!
Let us praise Him!
A Donetsk night,
A trench candle,
And to all enemies
Fierce to the point of death,
The soldiers have become
To sing carols:
Christ is born!
Let us praise Him!
