The showbiz top PR woman named the singer who united Ukrainians with music

The famous PR specialist Yula (Yulia Yatsechko), who has worked with Loboda, Monatic, Artem Pivovarov, and many others, called singer Maks Barskykh the artist who managed to unite Ukrainians after February 24, 2022. She focused on his song "There Will Be Spring," which still gives her goosebumps.

As Yula says in an exclusive interview with OBOZ.UA, it was this singer who made an invaluable contribution to the unity of Ukrainians at the beginning of the full-scale war and "kept the people together with his work." Now the PR woman calls him a "top star."

"For me, Maks Barskykh remains a top-notch singer. His song "There Will Be Spring" still gives me goosebumps. He did what an artist should do in the first days of our horror. He held the people together with his art. He made a song that united the world because all Ukrainians were scattered then. He fulfilled his mission as a top star with a huge audience. What happened next with the new songs is his story," Yulia shared her opinion.

Interviewer Bohdan Bespalov noted that three artists – Olia Poliakova, Maks Barskykh, and Monatic – are no longer as popular as they once were. The top PR expert believes that this happened because they chose the wrong direction for their future work. Moreover, she criticized Olia Poliakova for translating her Russian-language songs, although a new hit could be created during this time.

"Mykhailo Yasynskyi, Olia Poliakova's producer, once said that they would translate the singer's album into Ukrainian. I think it's just a joke. It's still too difficult to translate Russian-language content because we know where these songs were written and what they were about before the war. What was the message, what were the notes of getting into the situation of other countries. If you're spending time and money on re-recording and translation, why not just buy three cool Ukrainian songs? Why not put Ukrainian poetry to music, as Pyvovarov did in the beginning?" Yula noted.

She opposes the translation of Russian-language songs because they were once created primarily for the Russian audience. The PR specialist believes that it is possible to cover only a few important tracks "that are associated with Ukraine and were written for Ukraine," but it is unacceptable to change the accompaniment almost completely.
