The star of the movie The Bodyguard, Kevin Costner, who not only played the main role but also produced it, wanted to star Princess Diana in the sequel. She even accepted the role, but the film was never released due to the tragic death of King Charles III's ex-wife in a car accident.

For a long time, the royal family did not confirm the princess's intentions to start a film career, Metro writes, and the relationship between the Windsors and Costner became "terrible." Only Lady Di's eldest son, Crown Prince William, believed Kevin.

Negotiations between the actor and the princess began shortly before her death, in 1996, after the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson introduced them. Diana was already on her way to a divorce and a new life, and therefore was even ready to kiss her partner.

According to the producer, she started talking about the kiss scene herself and was waiting for the finished script. The story was supposed to tell about a bodyguard's meeting with the mother of the future King of Great Britain and their romance.

"When Diana died, about a year later it became known that I was preparing The Bodyguard 2 with her. And it happened that the royal family turned away from me a little bit, like: "No, it's not true". And it was quite unpleasant. And I let it go for a while, but it kept getting worse," said Kevin Costner.

They didn't even look for another actress for the lead role, and they boldly refused to make a sequel. For many years, the Windsors were angry with the producer, until Prince William put an end to the feud.

"About 12 years later, I was in Scotland, and William and I met in a room. There was no one else in the room. Something pushed him, he wanted to meet me. I sat down across from him, he looked at me and said: "My mom likes you". It was the sweetest, most tender thing," the producer recalled.
