Alina Ponomarenko from Odesa became the new Miss Universe Ukraine. She was chosen online, as it was decided to refrain from pompous shows in the context of a full-scale war.

The news that the beauty from Odesa had won the crown and would represent Ukraine at the most prestigious beauty pageant in Mexico was announced on Instagram. The purpose of the Ukrainian's participation in Miss Universe is to once again remind the world of the genocide of our people and Russia's war crimes.

"Our partners from Miss Universe (USA) expressed their sympathy to our people and supported the decision to select a representative from Ukraine through online interviews, just like last year. The selection process lasted several months, and a large number of applicants were married/divorced women and mothers with children. Based on the results of the questionnaires, video profiles, and interviews, Alina Ponomarenko became the winner," the post says.

Traditionally, the winner was chosen based not only on her beauty but also on her socially useful activities. This year's titled Beauty has created a social initiative called the "Tree of Love", which aims to support grandparents in Odesa.

When a full-scale war shook the country, Alina and her caring friends decided to devote themselves to this social group, providing them with medicines, food, and other necessities. In addition, she often visits the elderly just to talk to them.

"Becoming Miss Universe Ukraine is not just about winning a beauty pageant. Representing Ukraine at Miss Universe is a great honor for me and an opportunity for our country to be heard once again. My dream of becoming Miss Universe Ukraine is based on my desire to serve my country, support our heroes, and help people who need support," commented the girl from Odesa.

Last year, Ukraine was represented by Anhelina Usanova. Although she failed to make it to the top 20, the girl made a very worthy statement and did not succumb to the provocations of the Russian.
