The world-famous American actress Sandra Bullock has lost her beloved. The star's boyfriend, the popular US photographer Brian Randall, died at the age of 57 after a long but, unfortunately, unsuccessful battle with a serious illness.

The cult film star had been in a relationship with the photographer since 2015. The tragic news was announced by Randall's family on Monday, and the man died on Saturday, 5 August. This was reported by АВС.

In 2020, Brian was diagnosed with ALS - amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It is a rare genetic disease of the central nervous system that affects motor neurons. Over time, people with this diagnosis lose function in the muscles of the arms and legs, tongue, and lungs. Stephen Hawking, a prominent theoretical physicist, had the same disease, and in 2014, a film called Stephen Hawking's Universe was made about him during his lifetime.

His family said that Randall had chosen to keep his battle with ALS private, and "those in his family who cared for him did everything they could to honour his request."

"We are eternally grateful to the tireless doctors who fought this disease with us and the amazing nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their families to be with us," the family added.

Bullock met Randall in 2015 when he was photographing her son Louis' birthday. The actress did not openly seek marriage after she divorced TV presenter Jesse Gregory James in 2010. However, the star of the films Miss Congeniality, The Proposal, Ocean's Eight and others literally had a real family with the photographer. They rarely appeared in public together, but the man sometimes accompanied the starlet to her film premieres and other social events.

In 2022, Bullock announced that she wanted to take a break from her career and devote herself to her family. Probably, this decision was prompted by the illness of her lover, with whom she wanted to spend more time before his passing.
