Richard Gere got into an embarrassment during a live morning show
American actor Richard Gere surprised "Today" host Savannah Guthrie when he showed her his middle finger at the beginning of the interview. The embarrassment was accidentally broadcast live and went viral online.
"You just made an obscene gesture on this family morning show!" the journalist told the guest. As it turned out, the star simply repeated a scene from the upcoming spy series "The Agency," in which he played one of the roles. The show's trailer cut off at the moment when Gere was about to give his middle finger, so the actor decided to repeat his character's actions in the "Today" studio.
"That's what I did in the movie!" Gere explained. "That's what was in the video!" Guthrie replied: "It was in the video, but we cut that part out. But then you did it live!" Later, the celebrity joked that he did not control his hand at that moment.
Gere is not the only star who has "misbehaved" on the morning show. Recently, singer Cher appeared on the "Today" Show and allowed herself to use foul language while discussing her divorce from her late ex-husband Sonny Bono. According to the host, the singer "sent her ex-lover away."
