On a walker and with his ex-wife: ex-James Bond made his first public appearance after retirement. Photo
George Lazenby, 84, who played James Bond in the 1969 film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, was spotted in Los Angeles for the first time since he retired. The star took a walk with his ex-wife Pam Shriver, holding onto a walker.
The Australian-born actor, wearing jeans and a baseball cap, did not smile but looked cheerful. The photos appeared in the New York Post.
Last week, Lazenby wrote a heartbreaking farewell post to his fans after years of acting. He not only cut short all possible future filming but also promised not to talk to journalists.
"It was not an easy decision, but the time has come to announce my retirement. So starting today, I will no longer be filming, appearing in public, giving interviews, or signing autographs. It's been a fun ride, but getting old is no fun," the actor explained.
He thanked all his fans and family for their support. By 2019, the Australian had starred in dozens of films, but Lazenby's greatest fame came from the Bond series. George played James Bond with no acting experience after Sean Connery left the franchise. He became the only Bond to appear in a movie for only one film.
In his youth, the Australian planned to be a model. Lazenby's athletic build and charisma brought him recognition, which played into his film career.
