Not the only one to break the crystal microphone. The Internet recalled the embarrassment at Eurovision 2009

Eurovision 2009 winner Alexander Rybak congratulated Nemo on their first place at the song contest in Malmö

Eurofans have seen the video of this year's Eurovision 2024 winner, Switzerland's Nemo, accidentally breaking a crystal microphone. This happened because they did not calculate the force when they "fell" to their knees, and as a result, the top of the statuette broke off.

However, Nemo were not the first to get into such an embarrassment. A similar situation happened to Norwegian musician Alexander Rybak, the winner of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. The incident was recalled by fans of the song contest who found a 15-year-old video.

Back then, the singer admitted that he had broken the coveted trophy just a few minutes after receiving it. The Norwegian accidentally broke a crystal statue in the shape of a microphone, not calculating the force when he put it on stage, Digital Spy writes. Speaking to The Sun, Rybak's representative said: "Yes, it broke, but I think it was due to weak glue. It's an easy fix."

The 2009 Eurovision winner recently celebrated his 37th birthday. The musician shared his impressions of the grand final of this year's song contest. He congratulated Nemo on their victory on his Instagram page. Rybak said that after the results were announced, his mother called him.

"Have you seen the incredible winner? They are like a new version of you," the woman said. "They look like you, they are the same age as you, they also play the violin and even broke their trophy on stage like you!" Rybak added that even if this is all true, he will never be able to sing like Nemo.
