No one would have guessed: Elvis Presley's personal hairdresser revealed the secret of the King of Rock 'n' Roll's funeral for the first time

Elvis Presley's hairdresser tells what he did to his hair

The 84-year-old writer Larry Geller became one of the best friends of the King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley when the singer hired him as his personal barber in 1964. The collaboration between the Americans lasted until the star's death in 1997, but only now a friend of the performer has recalled some unknown details of Presley's last days and funeral.

Geller told the DailyMail about how they spent the artist's birthday together in January 1977. According to the newspaper's source, his friend intended to "change a lot" and wanted to leave show business for a while.

Because of this, Larry Geller was shocked to learn of the star's death. However, he was even more surprised when the artist's father asked him to do his son's hair after his death.

"When Elvis died, his father asked me to go to the morgue and do his hair. I had never done anything like that in my life, but I had to. I came to the morgue and Elvis was lying there. I walked over to him. To say I was in shock is just a euphemism. I looked at him and couldn't believe it," the artist's hairdresser recalled.

The American had to not only style his hair but also dye it. Until his death, Elvis Presley repeated this procedure every three weeks, and the most recent dyeing was scheduled just before a tour that never took place.

"His hair grew back about 1/4 inch, and I'm thinking, what am I going to do? He's going to be lying there, all the fans are going to see him, and how am I going to make his hair black? There was a female gravedigger there, and I called her over and asked her if you had a set of mascara with you, and she said yes," Larry Geller said.

The hairdresser applied a little black product to Elvis' sideburns and to the hair near his ears. "Isn't that something? And no one ever knew," he recalled.
