Man with world's largest thumb shows how the anomaly prevents him from using his phone. Video
Jacob Pina, 25, from Massachusetts, who has one of the world's longest thumbs, showed how he does everyday things, including using a smartphone. Thanks to his thumb, which is almost 13 centimeters long, the American became popular on YouTube and gained millions of subscribers online.
As Pina showed on his TikTok, his right finger is only slightly shorter than the phone screen, while the left one is almost the same length. The American showed how he scrolls through the social media feed, stretching his phalanx to the maximum.
The video, which received almost 100,000 views, shocked and confused viewers, many of whom asked if it was edited and if such an extreme stretch was painful. One user commented, "This makes me physically uncomfortable."
Daily Mail writes it. Although about one in ten Americans has very flexible joints, also known as hypermobile joints, doctors can't explain Pina's case. Although hypermobility is linked to genetic diseases, Jacob says he has no health issues that would explain this.
Earlier, he told journalists, "It's been a positive experience having a long thumb. It's never stopped me doing anything, and sharing it on TikTok has gained me so many followers who are thumb enthusiasts around the world." Pina didn't realize he had a specialty until he was a freshman in college. In 2019, a friend advised him to create a social media account. Since then, the American has amassed 2.8 million followers.
