Luxembourg makes a spectacular comeback in Eurovision after a 30-year pause, entering the top 10. Video

Luxembourg returns to the Eurovision Song Contest

Luxembourg has returned to the Eurovision Song Contest after a more than 30-year pause. The country has not participated in the contest since 1993 despite being one of the most successful in its history. However, on May 7, Luxembourg delighted Eurofans with its enchanting comeback. Its representative TALI took the stage in Malmö, Sweden, in the first semi-final, captivating the audience with her song Fighter.

TALI managed to prove herself well and represent her country with dignity, making it to the grand final, where she will compete for the crystal microphone on May 11. OBOZ.UA watched the Luxembourg representative's performance live.

The song in French by the contestant tells about "people suffering and ways to endure it". In particular, TALI cites an example from her own life in New York, where she "experiences so much rejection" in the music industry.

This performance allowed Luxembourg to get into the top ten favorites to become the first finalists of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 according to the results of the audience vote.

However, bookmakers do not see Luxembourg among this year's leaders. After the first semifinal, the country was ranked in the analysts' rating as low as 22nd.

Luxembourg made its Eurovision debut since the contest was founded in 1956. This country is also one of the most successful participants of the show as it has 5 wins. Only Ireland and Sweden have more (7 wins each), along with Luxembourg, France, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

Luxembourg's two consecutive victories in 1972 and 1973 are particularly impressive. Unfortunately, after a series of unsuccessful performances in the 80s and early 90s, the country stopped participating in the competition in 1993.

It is known that 23-year-old Tali Golergant was born in Israel and now lives in New York, where she works as a vocal coach and music teacher. She also performs in musicals, including Les Misérables, and released her first album in 2021. Born in November 2000, she has never seen Luxembourg participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. However, she was the artist who brought the country back to the contest after such a long break.
