Liz Truss reveals details of last conversation with Queen Elizabeth II

Former British Prime Minister Liz Truss told us what advice the late Queen Elizabeth II gave her. The politician admitted that she regrets not listening to the monarch's words.

Truss shared this in her memoirs titled "Ten Years to Save the West," the Daily Mail reports. The Queen advised her "not to rush." The British figure's 49 days in office were marked by economic turmoil – including reforms that caused the pound to fall – before she left Downing Street.

The former Prime Minister spoke with the royal two days before the terrible news hit the UK. During the 20-minute discussion in Balmoral, where Elizabeth II later died, the monarch was fragile and attentive to her guests.

"At the end of our conversation, she warned me that being a prime minister is incredibly 'aging'. She also gave me some advice: "Take your time". Perhaps I should have listened," the book says.

Truss recalls his thoughts after the news of Elizabeth II's death: "Why me? Why now?" The politician said she burst into tears "on the couch." She added: "Once again, grief was mixed with a sense of respect for the enormity of the event and the fact that it happened in front of my eyes."

The politician added that, despite the pressure, her first meeting with King Charles evoked "a strange sense of camaraderie as we were both starting in new roles and had to navigate unfamiliar territory." By that time, Tory MPs had already begun to take steps to relieve Trass of her duties. When she curtsied to Charles, he asked, "So you're back again?"
