King Charles recorded a moving Easter message to the nation amid news of Kate Middleton's battle with cancer

King Charles touched by Easter message to the nation

King Charles III of the United Kingdom recorded a touching audio message on the eve of Easter, which will be broadcast at Worcester Cathedral in Worcestershire on Maundy Thursday, March 28, in the monarch's absence due to his cancer treatment. This speech will be the first since Kate Middleton publicly announced her cancer.

According to the Mirror, the king did not directly mention his health and his daughter-in-law's condition, but his words can be interpreted as a "nation's response to the challenges" that Charles III and Kate Middleton had to face. In the speech, the monarch is known to have said that Jesus set "an example of how we should serve and care for each other" and that as a nation "we need and benefit greatly from those who extend a hand of friendship, especially in times of need."

The King will not be able to visit Worcester Cathedral in person due to his medical treatment, so visitors will hear the speech in a pre-recorded address. Queen Camilla will perform his duty at the ancient Royal Maundy ceremony.

The event dates back to the 17th century, when Charles II began distributing bags of coins to people, and is one of the oldest British traditions. This year, 75 men and 75 women who have rendered services to the state will receive two purses filled with money from Queen Camilla. The number of people was chosen depending on the number of years the king has lived.

Charles III recorded his audio address in mid-March. In particular, a photo of the monarch sitting at a table in one of the rooms of Buckingham Palace was posted online. There was a vase of flowers next to the two microphones, and the king himself looked happy.

As a reminder, the public learned about Charles III's cancer on February 5 from a statement by Buckingham Palace. It is not known what type of cancer it is. The disease was diagnosed after he underwent surgery for an enlarged prostate gland.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, after Kate Middleton was diagnosed with cancer, King Charles III was the first to respond to the shocking news with words of support for his "beloved daughter-in-law."
