Jerry Heil submits her song to Grammy 2025: what other Ukrainian star did so last year and how it ended

Jerry Heil submitted her song to the Grammy Awards

Singer and Ukraine's representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 Jerry Heil submitted her song #AllEyesOnKids for the most prestigious music award Grammy 2025 after becoming a member of the Recording Academy. Tina Karol tried her luck last year.

Both singers are trying to draw the world's attention to the war in Ukraine, which is less and less talked about abroad, by participating in the award. The song that Jerry Heil submitted to the Grammy Awards 2025 was created to draw public attention to children who were illegally taken to Russia. She told about it on Instagram.

"I submitted #AllEyesOnKids to the Grammys! The topic of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia is not raised enough in the information field, it deserves international publicity, and the Grammy is one of the best ways to achieve this! When I was choosing a topic to write a track for the award, it was important to me not just to submit a track with a good sound - I think it's important to talk about what hurts me and my people through music. And how happy I was yesterday when I followed the hashtag #AllEyesOnKids on Twitter [now - X] and found that so many foreigners are already using it and talking about our children! So it works!" said Jerry Heil.

She noted that now she will be able to get into the longlist only with the help of people who will spread #AllEyesOnKids on social media among foreign audiences. In particular, in order to be listened to on repeat abroad, the singer substituted a dynamic rather than melancholic melody for the important message.

"Now we have an extremely responsible task - to make sure that this track is included in the longlist. When I sat down to write this song, I had a task to make sure that the song touches on some very important topic regarding Ukraine. Because if you're an artist from Ukraine and you're going to be on the big stage, you have to raise issues that concern your people, issues that concern you," she explained. "But I also realized that you can't convey that through a song that will just burden the listener. First of all, I really wanted it to make the body move, to be listened to again and again and again."

Last year, Tina Karol represented Ukraine at the Grammy Awards. The singer also applied for membership in the Recording Academy and was given the opportunity to vote for the best songs.

"I feel incredibly honored and grateful to be accepted into the Grammy family of music as a voting member," Tina Karol wrote.

Two months later, the singer announced that she had submitted her song One Nation Under Love, presented in Ukrainian and English, to the Grammys. The track was created with the Oscar-winning American composer Diane Warren, who is the author of hits by Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Celine Dion, Lady Gaga, Cher and other iconic artists.

The artist submitted her patriotic song One Nation Under Love for 5 nominations at once:

  • Best Song For Social Change
  • Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
  • Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals
  • Best Music Video

"This song has been submitted for various Grammy nominations. We'll see! Even our symphony orchestra is also represented at the Grammys. Then we'll see if they give us a short or a long list. I don't know," Karol commented.

In the end, she failed to get at least one of the desired nominations.
