In Russia, during a search, a pro-Ukrainian singer who allegedly donated to the Ukrainian Armed Forces 'fell out of a window': his death was called a suicide

Vadim Stroikin, a singer from the Urals and a guitar teacher, died in St. Petersburg during a search of his apartment. The 59-year-old musician, who was suspected of financially supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine, allegedly fell out of the 10th-floor window on his own at the exact moment when Russian security forces arrived.

According to propaganda media, law enforcement officers visited Stroikin's apartment as part of a criminal case on "participation in a terrorist organization." The man, according to the Russians, went to the kitchen to drink water, and a few seconds later he was lying under the windows.

Since in modern Russia any support for Ukraine automatically falls under "extremism" or "terrorism," the musician faced up to 20 years in prison. He found a way out of this situation quickly.

After the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, the musician published anti-war posts on his social media. That's why Russian security forces allegedly decided to "test" him for donations to the Armed Forces. In particular, Stroikin often criticized the Russian authorities. In one of his posts, he called dictator Vladimir Putin a "bastard" because he "went to war not only against the fraternal people – he declared war on his own people."

Vadim Stroikin was born in Snezhinsk, a city that was closed in Soviet times due to the location of a nuclear facility. His parents worked at the secret facility, and Vadym graduated from the British School of Journalism. In the 90s, he worked as a radio presenter and created his own program, "Anthology of Author's Song", on "Echo of Moscow – Yekaterinburg." Later, he founded a travel company, but eventually devoted himself entirely to music.

For the past 10 years, Stroikin has been teaching guitar, giving lessons around the world, actively touring, and working on new projects.
