Everything was damaged by shells, with dried condoms scattered on the floor: Ukrainian artist on the horrors that the Russian occupants did in her house near Kyiv

Ukrainian artist on what she saw in the house after the occupation

Ukrainian artist Yevheniia Hapchynska, whose house in the Makariv district near Kyiv became a refuge for the occupiers for some time, said that it was hard for her to see what the terrorists turned her cozy family home into. She dared to go home only a month after the de-occupation, and what she saw made her think that Russians were "animals"

Hapchynska had to enter through the window. She spoke about this in an interview with TSN for the Naodyntsi (Alone) project.

"They tried to break down the door but it didn't work. All the windows were broken. I went in just like that. It was a nightmare. Everything was damaged by shells. I think they didn't live there, they were having fun and looting. Everything was shot up, the stove was torn out. Everything that they didn't take they had shot at it," the Ukrainian woman said.

The barbarians did not spare the children's room either, and took the family's photo albums from the shelves. They found photos of Yevhenia Hapchynska's husband's family on Red Square, and left it in the middle of the chaos.

"There were dried condoms on the floor. I don't really know what they were doing. They were probably looking for something to drink, but we had nothing, so there were bottles of olive oil on the floor. It was hard because it was like a savage invasion," the artist recalled.

The occupiers simply dragged all their personal belongings to the floor and didn't even bother to flush the toilet.

Yevheniia Hapchynska shared that volunteers did not come to her. However, the artist herself did not want to ask for help because she considers herself not the most needy person.
