European royal families gathered in Poland to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust. Photo
On January 27, a ceremony to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust was held at the Polish State Museum of Auschwitz-Birkenau in Auschwitz. On this day, members of many European royal families arrived in the country to take part in the events marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Death Camp.
Among those attending the ceremony were Their Highnesses from the United Kingdom, Denmark, Spain, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden. They paid tribute to the six million innocent Jews who fell victim to the Nazi extermination policy.
King Charles III
The direct heir to Elizabeth II arrived in Poland and took part in a number of commemorative events. The monarch visited the Jewish Community Center in Krakow, where he talked to people who survived the Holocaust. King Charles III also appeared at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum to light a candle of remembrance. His Highness dressed in a dark, restrained suit with a white shirt and tie.
King Frederik X and Queen Consort Mary
Members of the Danish royal family appeared at the event to commemorate the Holocaust victims in dark outfits. Frederik X chose a blue coat, which he combined with a light scarf. For her part, Queen Consort Mary preferred black outerwear and a hat. She complemented her outfit with a shimmering brooch and ring.
King Philip VI and Queen Letizia
The royal couple of Spain kept to the mourning style at the memorial event. Philip VI dressed in a restrained suit, white shirt, and tie, while his wife chose a black jacket with a fur collar.
King Willem-Alexander, Princess of Orange, and Queen Maxima
Members of the Dutch royal family flew to Poland to join the ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Death Camp. Willem-Alexander appeared in front of the audience in a black suit, with a white handkerchief in his jacket pocket. His wife and daughter chose dark coats and gloves. Queen Maxima added a hat to her outfit, while Princess Katarina-Amalia opted for a headband with a veil.
Crown Prince Haakon
His Highness from Norway also lit a memorial candle. Crown Prince Haakon made a personal appearance at the ceremony, dressed in mourning clothes.
Crown Princess Victoria
Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden also joined the commemorative events. She showed up in a black coat with a large bow on the collar as an accent.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was also present at the ceremony of commemorating the Holocaust victims. In his social networks, he noted that January 27 was the second birthday for thousands of Jewish survivors.
