Did Ornella Muti visit Mariupol? Russians launched a fake about an Italian actress-fan of Putin

Ornella Muti was "attributed" a visit to Mariupol

The famous Italian actress Ornella Muti, who is proud of her Russian roots and even dreamed of obtaining Russian citizenship, once again visited her ancestral homeland, but she did not visit the so-called Mariupol, according to Russian fake news. Propagandists "proved" the news that the actress posed against the backdrop of Mariupol houses with a photo from Sochi.

However, this does not do honor to the Italian, who has already made it clear that she supports the war and genocide of Ukrainians. OBOZ.UA decided to find out where the rumors about the actress "in Mariupol" came from.

Ornella Muti had indeed arrived in Russia a week earlier, where she met with participants of the World Youth Festival in Sochi. There, street artist Jorit Ciro Cerullo painted a portrait of his fellow citizen on one of the buildings as a sign of the unity of the two cultures.

This is not the first time the Italian has disgraced himself with his work by creating images in Russia and in occupied Ukrainian cities. One of them appeared in Mariupol, where the artist transferred a photo of a crying girl to the wall of a house without the author's permission.

By the way, the photo was taken by an Australian photographer who did not give permission for this, let alone share the Russians' opinion that the child was crying because of the "NATO shells" depicted in the mural.

After the scandal, Jorit Chiro stayed in Russia and continued to please the Kremlin, this time portraying an actress who confessed her love to Russia during a full-scale war.

Notably, Ornella Muti herself confirmed on Instagram that the photo was taken in Sochi.

Probably, with fakes about the star's alleged "recognition" of Mariupol as part of the Russian Federation, propagandists decided to divert attention from this year's Oscars, where the film about Russia's crimes "20 Days in Mariupol" won one of the main awards.

At the end of 2023, Ornella Muti already came to Russia. She played in a Moscow theater. Interestingly, the star of the films The Taming of the Scoundrel and Madly in Love never managed to learn Russian, so Russians had to watch the performance with subtitles.

As OBOZ.UA previously wrote, Muti has already been punished for supporting war criminal Russian President Vladimir Putin. It happened many years ago because of a banquet with him.
