"Crimea is ours!" Residents of occupied Simferopol celebrated New Year's Eve to Verka Serdyuchka's hit: even Santa Claus and Snow Maiden danced

Residents of occupied Simferopol celebrated the New Year with Verka Serdyuchka's hit song

Residents of the occupied Crimea celebrated the New Year with a hit song by Ukrainian artist Andrii Danylko (stage name Verka Serdyuchka). Even the main characters of Russian winter holidays – Santa Claus and Snow Maiden – joined the dancing.

Verka Serdyuchka showed in her InstaStories how people are having fun on the streets of Simferopol to her hit song "Everything Will Be Fine," which has long been the anthem of the New Year. Although the song is written in Russian, it belongs to a Ukrainian artist who is sharply reacting to the Russians and their propaganda, and now Ukrainianizing his songs.

Danylko commented on the video and reiterated that the occupied Crimea belongs to Ukraine. "Crimea is ours! Simferopol, New Year's Eve 2025," he captioned the video.

The video shows people dancing on the city square, where there are festive decorations in the form of brightly colored balloons wrapped in garland. The "eternal" hit had just been played from the speakers, but no one demanded that it be turned off.

These New Year's celebrations showed that despite all the attempts to suppress identity, Crimean residents continue to maintain a connection with Ukrainian culture. Dances and songs have become a kind of manifesto of unity and desire for freedom.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote that Verka Serdyuchka conveyed a message to Russia from the stage in Amsterdam. She performed the iconic song Dancing Lasha Tumbai, with which she represented Ukraine at the song contest in 2007. However, in recent years, this hit has taken on a special connotation.
