The '80s star underwent surgery after doctors discovered a "basal cell carcinoma" on her face, a malignant tumor that originates from the basal cells of the dermis, is characterized by slow growth and inability to form metastases. It is one of the most common types of non-melanoma skin cancer.

The 70-year-old celebrity has already shared a series of pictures taken after the surgery. She posted them on her personal Instagram page, leaving an important message to her fans.

Brinkley said that she now takes more care of her health, protecting her skin from the harmful effects of the sun. The model also advised her fans not to neglect the rules of using sunscreen and other means to prevent such terrible diseases as skin cancer.

"The good news for me is that we found basal cell carcinoma at an early stage. And I had great doctors who removed the cancer and stitched me up to perfection, like a haute couture Dior. The good news for you is that all of this can be avoided if you use sunscreen diligently! I'm a little late getting serious, so now for this mermaid/gardener look, I apply SPF 30, reapplying as needed, wear long sleeves and a wide-brimmed hat. And getting regular full body exams is a must!" Brinkley said.

The 70-year-old star revealed that she had the body checkup done by accident. The model came to the hospital with her daughter, whom she simply decided to support during the examination, but eventually decided to ask the doctor about a strange spot on her face that had bothered her while she was applying makeup.

"The doctor looked at every freckle with a magnifying glass... It wasn't my appointment, so I wasn't going to say anything, but at the very end I asked him to look at the little tiny dot I felt when I was applying my foundation.
