The Freddie Mercury of our time: who is Lucky Love, who conquered TikTok, and why he does not have one arm

Lucky Love, a singer without an arm and with the face and soul of Freddie Mercury

The track Masculinity by the extraordinary French singer Lucky Love has gone viral online, and its author and performer have become a big star. The musician's real name is Luc Bruyère. Born without an arm and refusing prosthetics, he overcame severe bullying, anorexia, and drug addiction. Luc was also diagnosed with HIV, and he is an active fighter for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, to which he belongs.

Lucky Love has already been dubbed the most successful visual reincarnation of Freddie Mercury due to the incredible resemblance to the iconic Queen leader. However, as can be seen from the previous paragraph, the 29-year-old artist's complicated and thorny life path also has many similarities with the biography of the British rock legend. OBOZ.UA decided to tell the story of a unique French star.

Luc Bruyère was born without an arm. His mother was very supportive of him, but his peers bullied him, which eventually almost broke the future artist. Dancing was the real salvation for the young man. Despite his physical disability, he entered the Roubaix National Centre of Choreographic Development in northern France.

At the age of 15, Luc moved to Brussels, where he studied at the Higher School of Art. However, this period turned out to be one of the most difficult in Brewer's biography. First, he got hooked on drugs, and later he became anorexic. His weight dropped to 47 kilograms with a height of 186 cm. The problems with drug addiction became apparent and uncontrollable, so the teenager was admitted to a rehabilitation center. He was diagnosed with HIV there.

After his rehabilitation, he made some unsuccessful attempts to get into movies or become a model. Eventually, Luc joined the Parisian drag cabaret Madame Arthur. He began performing as a travesty woman dancer named Venus. This pseudonym was chosen for a reason: other colleagues called him this name because of his resemblance to the statue of Venus of Milo.

However, this resemblance does not compare to how much Lucky Love resembles Freddie Mercury. First of all, because of the specific bite and teeth that stick out a bit. After the young singer changed his hairstyle and grew a mustache, some of his photos could be confused with archival photos of the Queen frontman who died of AIDS.

After Luc appeared on the pages of Vogue in 2018 in a photoshoot by the iconic American photographer Craig McDean, he was invited to model for other famous tabloids and brands.

"My goal was to show that people born with disabilities should not tell themselves 'I can't do it,' but should believe in themselves," he later said in an interview with Lucky Love.

However, the whole world learned about a talented guy with a disability and a difficult past when he became a singer. Currently, Lucky Love has only one EP, Tendresse, in his arsenal. The song Masculinity from this album became a real hit and impressed the audience with its depth.

Lucky Love is currently married to his partner, Australian filmmaker Adam Munnings. They both took the surname Love.

Creativity for Lucky Love is not just about music, concerts or aesthetic videos. It is, first and foremost, a platform for influencing society and popularizing important messages. The singer is an activist and defends the rights of homosexuals, as well as people with HIV and disabilities.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote about the young Hollywood star Sofia Sanchez, who has Down syndrome. The girl starred in two movie hits this year: Barbie and The Hunger Games: A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Ukrainian fans should pay even more attention to this unique child because Sofia is Ukrainian and she is supporting her homeland after the full-scale invasion of the terrorist country Russia. All the details are in our article.
