A personal item worth $40,000 has gone missing from the scene of the death of One Direction ex-member Liam Payne: police are at a loss

Buenos Aires police reveal new details of the investigation into Liam Payne's death

Argentine law enforcement officials investigating the death of former One Direction member Liam Payne have revealed an unexpected detail. Based on the analysis of the images included in the case, investigators confirmed that the vocalist was wearing his watch at least two to three hours before the tragedy.

The Rolex designer accessory costs almost $38 thousand (over 1.6 million hryvnias). Last week, the watch was not found during searches of the homes of three men suspected in the criminal investigation. Local newspaper La Nacion reports that searches of the homes of two female witnesses with whom Liam spent the last hours before falling from the third-floor balcony of his Buenos Aires hotel also yielded nothing.

"We know that Payne was wearing a Rolex watch on the day he died. He was holding it in one hand, and he had it for at least two or three hours before he threw himself out the window. We searched for it in the hotel room where he was staying and couldn't find it," the detectives explained. It is reported that this weekend the walls of CasaSur Palermo will be searched again in search of the expensive watch. The operation in the "next 72 hours" will focus on the star's suite.

"The watch was searched in the homes of three people who are under investigation on suspicion of supplying and facilitating the distribution of drugs, as well as in the homes of two women who were in the room with him on the day he died. The room is still sealed by a court order, and no one can enter it," the investigators added.
