A man with cancer talked to Kate Middleton alone and told what she is like in real life
Peter Burton, a man with cancer, met with Princess Kate Middleton of Wales during her visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. The 60-year-old patient spoke with her in private and later told reporters that the Duchess in real life is different from her reserved image in front of the cameras.
Middleton, who recently underwent treatment for cancer, took her husband's hand when she was in his room. According to Burton, he felt like the only person in the room when she visited him, the Mirror reports.
"I was told we would be meeting a VIP and I thought it was going to be Prince William, but to my surprise it was Her Royal Highness," the man said. "Talking to Kate, who has had cancer herself, was really special - I felt like she genuinely empathized with me and what I was going through. When you see the royal family on TV, they play a role, but Kate was extremely friendly, genuinely interested in what I had to say and took time one-on-one with me and each patient."
According to Burton, Middleton visited the hospital's day care unit, where she was undergoing treatment herself. The man, who is battling bone marrow cancer and has undergone chemotherapy, is sure that Kate came because she really wanted to meet the patients, not just for the opportunity to take a photo.
"We talked about how people think more about the cancer patients than the families who care for them, and that can be difficult," the patient added, "She felt the same way about her husband and children. It was also nice to know that Kate had been treated at the Royal Marsden herself."
As a reminder, Kate Middleton publicly announced that she had cancer in March 2024. In September, the Princess of Wales successfully completed chemotherapy.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote that Middleton is going to return to the public during the BAFTA 2025 awards in February.
