Igor Surkis

Igor Surkis is a Ukrainian businessman, owner of FC Dynamo (Kyiv).

Brief biography

Ihor Surkis was born in Kyiv, November 22, 1958.

Higher education Surkis got in the Kiev National Economic University named after Vadim Getman from which he graduated in 1981.

After graduation Ihor Surkis worked for eight years in "Kievzhilremstroimontazh", until 1989.

In 1989 he took the post in the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine but in 1990 he left the post and became the commercial director of "Dynamo-Atlantic" joint venture.

In 2002 Ihor Surkis became president of FC Dynamo (Kyiv).

Surkis sells Dynamo?

The rumors that Ihor Surkis sells Dynamo (Kyiv) appear on the net quite regularly, but so far they have had no actual confirmation. The most often a potential buyer of Dynamo is mentioned as Li Yonghong - a Chinese businessman, who once bought the famous soccer club AC Milan.

In addition, there are rumors in the media that in 2013 one of the associates of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, Yuri Ivanyushchenko, allegedly offered Ihor Surkis for "Dynamo" five hundred million dollars.

Surkis and Privatbank

In 2016, Igor Surkis and his brother Grigory were recognized by the court as insiders of "Privatbank".

After the nationalization of Privatbank, the Surkis filed numerous lawsuits, demanding the reversal of the above decision. Eventually, in 2018, the Kiev Administrative Court of Appeal ruled that Igor and Hryhoriy Surkis are not persons related to Privatbank and the financial institution is obliged to pay them more than one billion hryvnias.

Subsequently, the court decision was implemented by "Privatbank", although the final payments were less than required.

Igor Surkis' family

The businessman is married. The wife of Igor Surkis is Olga Romanova.

Ihor Surkis' brother Grigoriy is also his business partner. So, according to "Focus" magazine, Surkis brothers have exceeded $915 million in the financial state as of 2008, making them the 26th richest Ukrainians in the list.
