The U.S. Department of Defense has stated that it plans to use the funds allocated to help Ukraine under the presidential authority even after the end of the fiscal year. If there are any funds left over for the Armed Forces by the end of September, when the US fiscal year ends, they will be used.

This was stated by Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh at a briefing on Friday, September 6, Voice of America reports. According to her, the department plans to use the available funds to support Ukraine "in any way possible" after the end of the fiscal year.

"As you know, we have been working very hard with Congress to get this additional amount and distribute this money to Ukraine in the PDA and USAI packages," the representative of the US department said.

She noted that she could not yet speculate on the fate of the funds that will remain after September 30 but pointed out that Washington announces aid packages for Ukraine "almost every week." They vary in size, but they come to Ukraine regularly.

"I have no doubt that we're going to use everything we have to make sure that we continue to provide Ukraine with everything it needs, both in the short and long terms," the Pentagon deputy spokeswoman emphasized.

Singh added that the US plans to use the remaining funds "in any way possible."

It should be noted that the US fiscal year ends on September 30. This means that Washington may miss the opportunity to transfer another $6.2 billion to Ukraine, which is still available under the presidential powers.

As reported, international expert Oleksandr Kraiev said that the United States will be able to use the money from the budget allocated for Ukraine even after the end of the budget year. The American budget process does not have a procedure for money intended for foreign aid to partners to be returned to the budget.
