In Bratislava, Slovakia, Hungarian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Viktor Orban and Peter Szijjarto held "talks" with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. These talks were about stopping the transit of Ukrainian gas.

The Hungarian prime minister said this on Facebook. However, Hungarian media reported more details about the negotiations, which resulted in no decision.

"Our farmers will be destroyed if Brussels bureaucrats allow Ukrainian agricultural products to enter the EU market. It's bad for Hungary and bad for Slovakia, but everyone is silent about it!" Orban complained online.

According to index, which quoted the Hungarian prime minister in more detail, Orban did indeed talk a lot about "bad Ukraine." In particular, he complained that even after the end of the Russian-Ukrainian war, "Ukraine will still have a huge amount of weapons, and this in itself is a risk for its neighbors, such as Hungary."

The Hungarian prime minister did not explain what the risk is. But he did say that the risk of European support for our country is money.

"There will be a constant danger that Brussels' money belonging to us - and this is the money of Slovaks and Hungarians - will be redirected by Brussels to Ukraine, and our agricultural entrepreneurs will be ruined," the index quoted Orban as saying.

Orbán also complained to Fico about Ukraine's "unacceptable refusal to negotiate a settlement" on gas transit, and "aggressive and hostile statements by Kyiv," stressing that "Kyiv is no longer so firmly in the saddle to afford it."

"If they remain aggressive and hostile, we will eventually get angry and take countermeasures. The way Kyiv is trying to control and shape relations with the countries of Central Europe is unacceptable," the Hungarian prime minister said.

Once again, Orban did not explain what countermeasures he was referring to, or what he found unacceptable about our relations with other central EU countries.

Orban indirectly revealed why he is so hostile to Ukraine. In his opinion, if Ukraine joined the European Union today, "it would destroy Hungary."

"The EU does not have the money to absorb Ukraine, and we do not want to destroy our own country. We will not accept Ukraine into the EU at the cost of destroying Hungary's economy," the Hungarian prime minister said.

In turn, the Slovakian prime minister said that in the future he is ready to veto EU financial aid for Ukraine.

Orban has repeatedly complained lately that money from Brussels goes to Ukraine instead of Hungary. He is partly right: the EU has blocked the allocation of €1 billion in aid to Hungary from the EU's joint budget because of systemic corruption in that country. The European Commission concluded that Hungary neglects democratic standards and the basic values of the European Union.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the United States announced the imposition of corruption-related sanctions against Antal Rogan, a senior Hungarian government official who served as chief of staff to Orban's Cabinet. This is the first time that one of Orban's closest associates has been subject to U.S. restrictions.
