Two senior officials from the US presidential administration visited Oman this week to hold indirect talks with Iranian officials. The talks between the United States and Iran focused on avoiding an escalation of regional terrorist attacks.

The United States was represented by Presidential Advisor for Middle East Affairs Brett McGurk and Acting U.S. Representative to Iran Abram Paley, Axios reported, citing two sources. It is not known who represented Iran. The talks in Oman took place on Tuesday.

During the talks, the United States expressed its concern about the status of Iran's nuclear program. The Americans also tried to explain the possible consequences of the actions of Iran and its "partners" in the region.

The neutral word "partners" refers to the Hezbollah terrorist group in Lebanon, militants in Syria and Iraq, including Hamas, and the Houthis in Yemen. And the words "Iran's actions" means large-scale air attacks on Israel and support for Hamas in Palestine and the Houthis in the Red Sea.

Thus, it can be assumed that America has threatened Iran: in case of escalation of regional terrorist attacks, the United States will take action. It is believed that Iran does not want to have a direct conflict with America.

The White House and the State Department refused to comment on the talks in Oman. Earlier, Deputy State Department Spokesperson Vedant Patel said that the Biden administration has the means to communicate with Iran "when necessary." However, he also said that Biden's team doubted the reliability of information about Iran's resumption of its nuclear weapons program.

Iran officially shut down the program in 2003. However, unofficial sources, including the global intelligence community, report not only that the program is working but also that Iran has reached the finish line in creating a nuclear bomb.

As reported, the United States and Saudi Arabia are approaching the conclusion of a historic pact that will provide the kingdom with real security guarantees and pave the way for the establishment of diplomatic relations with Israel. This agreement will dramatically change the Middle East, and will also deter Iran, China, and to some extent Russia.
