Tusk accused the Polish government of inaction in the situation with the border closure
Opposition leader and former Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who may again lead the country's government, commented on the situation with the border blockade. He accused the current government of Mateusz Morawiecki of "inaction that cannot be forgiven."
Tusk made these remarks to reporters in the Sejm, stating that the situation on the border jeopardizes relations between Ukraine and Poland.
"This is an inaction that cannot be forgiven. In this way, we jeopardize Polish-Ukrainian relations and do not protect Polish interests," the politician said.
He added that the current Polish government is putting everyone in a very difficult situation.
Tusk emphasized that initially, when it was appropriate, Warsaw demonstrated a radically pro-Ukrainian position "completely forgetting about Polish interests." According to him, "Poland should live in friendship and support Ukraine, while not neglecting its interests."
"They completely neglected this, and when they realized that it irritated people, they began to play the anti-Ukrainian card and then turned away from the problem on the border," the opposition leader asserted.
At the same time, he noted that he is studying this problem and holding meetings with politicians and experts who will deal with the border issue.
It is worth noting that on Tuesday, November 28, the authoritative Politico magazine named the leader of the opposition, former Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the most influential figure in Europe. The magazine noted that the reverberations of Tusk's return will be felt throughout Europe. With Tusk once again leading Poland and issuing conciliatory orders, tensions are likely to ease.
As OBOZ.UA reported, the blackmail of the Polish far right on the border of Ukraine is getting worse. Since November 27, Polish protesters have once again expanded their protest action - now the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint is blocked around the clock. In total, some drivers at the border have been stuck in traffic jams for two weeks.
Due to the blockade of the border by the Polish far-right, Ukraine's economy is suffering significant losses, in particular, due to a decrease in the amount of goods imported into the country. However, there is no need to talk about a critical decline in imports and an impending shortage of certain items: businesses are actively looking for alternative ways to import goods or offer Ukrainians affordable analogues.
