Haluk Bayraktar responds to the possibility of supplying Akinci UAVs to Ukraine

The Turkish military company Baykar Makina does not rule out the possibility of providing the Ukrainian Defense Forces with promising heavy attack drones Bayraktar Akinci. Our country is currently the first to be authorized by the Turkish government to manufacture such vehicles.

This was stated by Bayraktar CEO Haluk Bayraktar in an interview with Radio Liberty. As you know, his company is actively investing in the Ukrainian state by building its own UAV factory, and its Bayraktar TB2, about which Ukrainians have even composed songs, played a significant role at the beginning of the full-scale war and is now engaged in combat operations at the front.

According to the Turkish entrepreneur, the local company Baykar is actively supplying such drones to Ukraine. The squadron is supported by a staff of 50 people who work day and night.

"Our drones are actively used on the battlefield and we are doing a good job of maintaining our systems," Bayraktar explained.

At the same time, he said that the issue of Akinci UAVs is still under consideration.

It should be noted that Bayraktar Akinci is a Turkish UAV that is also powered by a Ukrainian AI-450 engine (developed by the state-owned Ivchenko-Progress). During the tests, it was able to hit a target at a distance of 140 km and then successfully landed at the takeoff point. The drone tested the supersonic guided missile İHA-230 for the first time.

It is known that the most advanced high-altitude Akinci UAVs have already been ordered from Turkey by Saudi Arabia. The agreement was reached in the spring of 2023, the number of deliveries is kept secret.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, in late September, Haluk Bayraktar attended the first international Defense Industries Forum in Ukraine, which brought together representatives of leading arms manufacturers from dozens of countries. At the event, the creation of the Defense Investment Alliance was announced, which included 38 companies from 19 countries.
