Rebels in Mali defeat a group of Wagner soldiers

The Tuareg rebels in Mali, who defeated a group of Wagner PMC fighters in the north-east of the country, captured a "significant number" of them alive. The rebels, who are fighting for the independence of the self-proclaimed Azawad state in Mali, want to hand over the prisoners to Ukraine.

According to the rebels, this is their way of "expressing solidarity with Ukrainians in their struggle against Russian criminals." The appeal was posted on the X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Dear Ukrainian brothers! We, the armed forces of the CSP-DPA, want to express our solidarity with you in your fight against Russian criminals. We have captured a significant number of Wagner mercenaries and want to hand over these prisoners to you as a sign of support and solidarity. This gesture is aimed at helping you in your struggle for justice and freedom. We hope that this will contribute to strengthening our ties and our common victory. With all our support, the CSP-DPA Armed Forces," the statement reads.

The post is accompanied by the hashtags #freeAzawad and #SlavaUkraine

Ukrainians responded to the gesture by the Tuareg rebels with words of gratitude and support for their struggle for Azawad's independence and against Russian criminals.

"Thank you for your strength! Russian criminals all over the world must be eliminated," wrote Ivan Shevtsov, a well-known e-sports coach.

"Thank you for your fight! We can provide drones to destroy Russians," said volunteer and public figure Serhiy Sternenko.

"Russians should die all over the world," added blogger Ihor Lachenkov.

Ukrainians also commented that if the Tuareg rebels handed over captured Wagner soldiers to Ukraine, they could be exchanged for captured Azov heroes, whom Russia refuses to free.

Earlier, it was reported that in Mali, rebels defeated a group of Wagner fighters on the border with Algeria. Together with the Russians, dozens of junta soldiers were killed and wounded.

The Tuareg rebel movement Permanent Strategic Framework for Peace, Security and Development (CSP-PSD) said that its fighters had captured armored vehicles, trucks and tanks during fighting in the border town of Tinzaouaten on Thursday and Friday.

The Malian army, meanwhile, reported that two of its soldiers were killed and 10 wounded in the fighting. They also announced the elimination of about 20 rebels.

Later it turned out that among those eliminated was a Russian commander responsible for Bakhmut and Soledar offensives.
