Trump may be banned from entering nearly 40 countries around the world - media
Potential US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump may become "inadmissible" in almost 40 countries because of his criminal record. These countries apply strict immigration policies to people with criminal records.
This was reported by News Week. The article cites data from the World Population Review, according to which such rules are in effect, in particular, in the G7 countries of Canada, the United Kingdom, and Japan.
"These rules often result in the automatic denial of visas or entry permits to convicted felons, which could potentially affect Trump's ability to travel abroad," the journalists noted.
The list of countries that do not allow entry to convicted criminals: Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, Cuba, India, Iran, Israel, Japan, Kenya, Macau, New Zealand, South Africa, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
In addition, Trump may be banned from entering other countries. No all of them actively check criminal records at the border, but they will refuse entry if a convicted felon is found. These are, in particular, Brazil, Cambodia, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Ethiopia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ireland, Malaysia, Mexico, the United States, Morocco, Nepal, Peru, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Tanzania, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, and United Arab Emirates.
As a reminder, on May 31, a jury in New York found former President Donald Trump guilty in the case of porn star Stormy Daniels. The US court found Trump guilty of all 34 counts, the main one being falsification of election financial documents.
It remains to be seen what Trump's punishment will be. The official verdict will be announced only on July 11.
His legal team has already announced plans to appeal the verdict. Despite these legal obstacles, Trump continues to campaign for the 2024 presidential election, which that could be complicated by potential travel restrictions imposed by various countries.
