Putin only wants peace in words: Borrell announces attempt to undermine Peace Summit in Switzerland
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin talks about "peace" talks while his occupation army has launched another offensive in Ukraine - in the northern Kharkiv region. By continuing his barbaric attacks, the Russian president wants to undermine the upcoming Peace Summit in Switzerland.
This was stated by the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, at a briefing following the EU Ministerial Council on May 27. He stressed that the European Union fully supports the holding of such an event, Ukrinform reports.
"Its purpose is to promote the future peace process. We are working on the widest possible participation in this event," Borrell said.
The European top diplomat also spoke about the massive shelling of Ukrainian cities by the Russian occupiers, which resulted in "catastrophic damage" to the power grids. As a result, electricity is being cut off in Ukraine.
According to him, this is already having a great negative effect and will have a negative effect next winter.
"Yes, we are now approaching summer. But the number of power plants and electrical capacities destroyed by the Russians continues to grow," Borrell said.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the international community could force Russia to end the war in Ukraine. That is why Putin is afraid of the peace summit in Switzerland and is trying to disrupt the event.
