French President Emmanuel Macron will arrive in Poland on Thursday, December 12, for a visit. He is traveling to Warsaw to discuss a plan for European peacekeeping efforts.

It would have to preserve Ukraine's sovereignty "as part of a possible Trump-Putin deal." This was reported by the Polish edition of Rzeczpospolita.

It is noted that due to its military potential and geographical location, Poland's participation in the peacekeeping mission is crucial.

"As far as I understand, Emmanuel Macron told Donald Trump that Europe not only cannot stay away from the US negotiations with Russia, as it has its own substantial security interests, but is also ready to support this process financially and beyond. Everyone bears the risk associated with the defense of Ukrainian sovereignty," said Camille Grand, former NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defense Investment.

The essence of the French proposal is a peacekeeping mission that would ensure that the Kremlin does not violate a possible ceasefire and the established line of demarcation in the future.

Back in February of this year, Macron first put forward the idea of sending NATO troops to Ukraine, but he did not specify the conditions under which this would take place. He expressed this idea in more detail during a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on November 11 in Paris.

Elie Tenenbaum, an expert at the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI), which is working on a project for such peacekeeping efforts, said that it could consist of five brigades (about 40,000 soldiers). Poland could take command of one of them.

The article states that there are three ways to provide security guarantees to Ukraine.

The first is the German way: accepting the country into NATO even without finalizing its borders, as was the case with Germany in 1955. However, America does not want this, and neither does Germany.

The second model is the Israeli one: massive arms supplies to Ukraine even after the peace is concluded. This option is questionable given the budgetary difficulties in both the United States and Europe.

The third model is Korean: an international peacekeeping mission that has been guarding the demarcation line between South and North Korea for more than 70 years. It is expected that this third model, with elements of the first and second models, will be the basis for security guarantees for Kyiv.

Earlier, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas stated she does not rule out the possibility of sending Western troops to Ukraine. According to her, "a certain degree of strategic ambiguity" should be maintained in this matter.

According to media reports, France and Britain are already considering options for deploying their troops to Ukraine. According to the sources, the troops of these countries should monitor the ceasefire on the demarcation line "to guarantee Ukraine's security."

Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is ready to consider the possibility of deploying foreign troops on its territory before officially joining NATO. This proposal may become part of the security guarantees for our country.

As reported, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said that the German military could be involved in maintaining peace in Ukraine. According to her, this will be possible in case of a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius also did not rule out sending German troops to Ukraine. He said that theoretically, Germany could send its military to Ukraine as part of peacekeeping efforts after the war.
