LSD, cocaine, ecstasy and more: WSJ learns about Elon Musk's drug use problems

American billionaire Elon Musk allegedly used illegal substances such as LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, and hallucinogenic mushrooms at parties around the world. There are also suspicions that he may have appeared intoxicated in front of his subordinates.

This was stated by sources of The Wall Street Journal. According to the sources, attendees of parties with Musk were required to sign a non-disclosure agreement or hand over their phones to avoid taking photos and videos.

People who witnessed the drug use claim that the billionaire took several acid pills at a party he threw in Los Angeles (USA) in 2018.

In 2019, he ate mushrooms at an event in Mexico, and in 2021, he took ketamine for fun with his brother Kimball Musk at a house party in Miami, the newspaper writes.

It is stated that the shareholders of Musk's companies were concerned about his behavior. The inventor put investors' assets worth about $1 trillion at risk, as well as tens of thousands of jobs.

It is widely known that Musk smoked a cigarette with marijuana while recording a podcast with Joe Rogan in 2018. He publicly admitted that he took ketamine to treat depression.

Musk's spokesman, Alex Spiro, claims that the billionaire regularly took drug tests and never failed them. He said that there are "other false facts" in the WSJ's statements, but did not elaborate.

Although the businessman is known for his eccentric and sometimes impulsive behavior, some executives in 2017 questioned Musk's sobriety. This happened after he gave a "bizarre" and "rambling" speech to hundreds of SpaceX employees, raising questions about his substance use.

A witness called the boss's 15-minute remarks "ridiculous," "crazy," and "distasteful." After that, SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell intervened and took over, journalists suggested.

Musk's spokesman said the report of the incident was "false, as confirmed by countless people in attendance." Spiro did not provide details.

Some people close to the billionaire claim that he used drugs during an interview shortly after he emotionally described how difficult his past year had been.

Musk attributed his strange behavior to mental illness and lack of sleep. In 2017, he said that he allegedly had bipolar disorder, but clarified that he had not been officially diagnosed. He also claimed that he had Asperger's syndrome, a type of autism.

In Musk's official autobiography, published last year, author Walter Isaacson wrote that Musk is prone to "demonic" outbursts at work, during which he lashes out at employees and managers. Afterwards, Musk "can hardly remember" what happened.
