Ankara reports an attempted terrorist attack
On the morning of October 1, explosions occurred in the center of Ankara, Turkey, near the Ministry of Interior and the Parliament. Later, there was also a shooting, after which the area was cordoned off by special forces.
The authorities called the incident an attempted terrorist attack, with two police officers being injured. This was reported by Al Arabiya (to see photos and videos, scroll down to the bottom of the news).
According to local journalists, heavy equipment has been deployed in front of the parliament and the Interior Ministry in Ankara, and special forces are guarding the area.

"The explosion in Ankara was an attempted terrorist attack," Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya explained.

He added that one of the suicide bombers blew himself up right outside the ministry building. His accomplice was neutralized by law enforcement.
Yerlikaya said two police officers were lightly injured in the attack in the Turkish capital. It happened a few hours before the parliament was to reopen after the summer recess.
