Deliveries will take place in 2025: Media disclose how many Mirage 2000-5F fighters Ukraine can get from France

France will provide Ukraine with between a dozen and two dozen Mirage 2000-5F fighter jets as part of its military assistance. They are currently being modernized with air-to-ground weapons and will be delivered in the first quarter of 2025.

This was announced on October 8 by the Minister of the Armed Forces of the country, Sebastian Lecorneuil. The local news portal Avionslegendaires.net reported on the likely number of aircraft that Kyiv could receive and some details about the delivery.

"There is no doubt that this was not received well in the Kremlin. Dictator Putin is very moderate about European countries supplying combat aircraft to Ukraine. This somewhat complicates the blitzkrieg he launched two and a half years ago against this country and its sovereignty," the publication says.

They say that the fighters are currently at the industrial stage to ensure that they are universal in meeting the standards of the French Air Force.

"The Minister of the Armed Forces has set a target of the first quarter, i.e. the period from January 1 to March 30, 2025. By that time, French teams should ensure the operational transformation of pilots and the advanced training of mechanics and gunners," the publication writes.

The media outlet also added that it is not yet known whether the batch of aircraft will include one or more Mirage 2000B two-seaters. On the other hand, it is undoubtedly the case that from being purely fighters specializing in air policing in the French Air Force, the Mirage 2000-5F will become multi-role combat aircraft in the ranks of the Ukrainian Air Force.

The aircraft will also be repainted in Ukrainian colors. One of the main modifications will be the payload and firepower of the SCALP-EG cruise missile, which is also already in service with the Ukrainian Air Force.

"According to our various sources, next year France will deliver 12 to 20 Mirage 2000-5Fs to Ukraine, which is at war. Next year, it will have new weapons to repel the Russian occupier. This is very good news for Ukraine and confirms the very good diplomatic relations between Kyiv and Paris," the journalists emphasized.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, French Mirage 2000-5F, and American F-16 fighters are both fourth-generation combat aircraft. Only F-16s have been fully modernized and improved over the years, so they are truly full-fledged multifunctional aircraft. At the same time, training on the Mirage 2000-5F for Ukrainians may be somewhat faster.
