Belarus offended as it was not invited to NATO exercises

Officially, Minsk has received neither a warning from NATO about the Alliance's largest exercise since the Cold War nor an invitation to join it. This is a violation of international agreements, according to the Belarusian authorities.

The head of the Department of International Military Cooperation of the Belarusian Defense Ministry, Valery Revenko, said that Belarus was humiliated. He accused the Alliance of not fulfilling the OSCE Vienna Document.

As a reminder, NATO plans to involve at least 90,000 troops in the largest exercise since the end of the Cold War. The main theme of the exercise is to deter Russian aggression. "However, Belarus has received neither a notification nor an invitation to the exercise," the Belarusian complained.

Revenko added that Poland also did not warn the Belarusian regime about its upcoming exercises scheduled for February. "Such an approach has nothing to do with the declared desire to preserve the current security architecture in Europe," the Belarusian Defense Ministry official said.

Revenko did not specify whom exactly NATO was supposed to warn them about. By the way, the Alliance, along with Western countries, have repeatedly stated that they do not recognize the current regime in Belarus as legitimate. And the vast majority of Russian officials are under sanctions.
